The appropriateness of the initiative and the degree to which the government is not aware of the reality in Hungarian are well demonstrated by the new proposal of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The board advises the government to introduce retail coupons to encourage restaurant consumption.
The two proposals have the same aim: to support sectors in difficulty and the re-launch of the economy. At the same time, the MSZP initiative would even increase the willingness to get vaccinated.
Unlike Fidesz, MSZP does not propose yet another loan, but direct support, as the vouchers could be spent at businesses that need help by all those who have already been vaccinated. This means a rescue package of almost HUF 100 billion for the affected sectors, because MSZP supports all initiatives that can simultaneously increase the willingness to get vaccinated and help troubled sectors get back on track, which is why we proposed the introduction of a vaccination voucher.
We would very much welcome if finally Fidesz politicians also supported proposals that could provide meaningful help to businesses in serious trouble.
