Orbán Should Combat Inflation, Not the Left!
In his speech on 15 March, Orbán "called his supporters to war" against the left; in the past 12 years of his government, he has always set an opponent and always waged war against someone, be it Brussels, Soros or the gays, MSZP co-president Bertalan Tóth said on ATV's "Straightforward Talk" programme on Tuesday.

"I would very much like it if, for example, inflation were the greatest enemy, or if the weakening of the forint were the greatest enemy, and then maybe prices would be lower, or maybe the forint would be stronger," he said.

He pointed out that despite some measures taken by the government, Hungary has the highest inflation in the European Union: in February, inflation was over 8 per cent, even though there was no war then. He added that it is estimated that the increase in prices could reach double digits this year.

Also, the hundreds of billions of forints pumped into the foundations of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) must be taken back and put back into the Hungarian National Bank, he stressed.

He said that he had been suing for years to find out where the money had gone, and that the European Union had already taken notice of the activities carried out through MNB's foundations.

And since the money pumped into MNB's foundations was not only used to buy mansions and paintings, but also state bonds, it falls into the category of illicit state financing.

To achieve a stronger forint, confidence in the Hungarian economy and the Hungarian forint must be strengthened, he suggested. "

There is a very, very simple solution: on 3 April the opposition will win, we will restore the rule of law, (...) we will have access to EU funds worth nearly 15 billion forints; market confidence will be strengthened in general, market confidence in the judiciary will also be strengthened, and this in itself will strengthen the forint," Bertalan Tóth said.
